Solar Photovoltaics

This website is still in very early development, but it’s presence is already becoming known due to the free content that it will provide.

Solar Photovoltaics is far from an emerging market, however in recent months, following the introduction of the Feed-In Tariff, the market has seemed to explode. This website will provide a solar sizing calculator for homes and small businesses. With this, you can ensure you get and understand your specialist quote that is suited for your property.

When desiging a solar system, there are many things to consider, such as the aspect of the roof, the size and the amount of shade cast over the roof. All of these have effects in the efficiency of the system, and as a rule of thumb, comapnies will advise against installing on roofs which are not south facing. Roofs within the region of ESE and WSW will benefit the most from a photovoltaic array.

Properties with little space will generally have panels with a higher efficiency fitted to them, however these cost more – so are only necessary where space is a limiting factor.

A PV system comprises of numerous parts; Panels, Mounting Systems, Inverter and a  Fuse Box. and an optional feature that many people are choosing is a monitoring system, which can display and record data from the system wirelessly around the property.

PV Grants were once the Governments menthod of subsidising the systems, however Feed-In Tariffs are now in place. A Feed-In Tariff allows you to become your own energy supplier, and sell the excess back to the National Grid for a healthy rate of up to 41.3 pence per Kilowatt Hour if your system is under 4kWp.

I shall be uploading a Feed-In Tariff page soon.
